WFObjectFactory.getProfileProp change in V11

I am looking at the V11.1 release notes. In section 6. “Known Upgrade Issues” it mentions
Behavior of WFObjectFactory.getProfile(): From version 11.0 of Interstage BPM, if the name specified in WFObjectFactory.getProfile() exceeds the length specified by MAX_PROFILE_PROP_NAME_LENGTH, the extra characters are truncated. Due to this, you may receive errors while using pre-11.0 applications in Interstage BPM version 11.0.
They must mean WFObjectFactory.getProfileProp()
I’m not sure that I understand what the effect of this is. Assume I have an existing V10 installation and I have an Application with some processes deployed. This seems to imply that after the upgrade I “may” see errors using that application. That raises a lot of questions:
1) Is there any way to know before upgrading if I will see errors?
2) Can I just ignore the errors?
3) If not, what would I need to do?Author: Keith Swenson

The names of the properties need to be the specified length (64 characters) or shorter. This is a pretty long name for a property. If you were using a property name longer than 64 characters, it might have worked in V10, but in V11 the name will be internally truncated to 64 characters. It will then look for the property with the truncated name, and will not find any properties with names that are longer than 64 characters.
It is quite unlikely that anyone is using properties with such long names.
You can ignore the errors, but this probably means you are not getting the value.
All you need to do is scan the source for calls to this, and see if the property name being used is greater than 64 characters. If you find one, you will need to change the property so that it has a name shorter than 64 characters. I would be surprised if you run into this situation.Author: Keith Swenson
