  Problem Description:
  This article will provide a useful guideline on the steps needed to successfully reuse an existing Interstage BPM database during a reinstallation or upgrade of Interstage BPM.
  
  Solution:
  Before reinstallation or upgrading Interstage BPM, make sure these steps are followed:
  

  1. Make sure Interstage BPM database is properly backed up. For SQL Server, the Interstage BPM database is named “teamflowdb”.  Please follow the backup steps provided by the database you are using.

  2. Backup your system and tenant properties by using the “exportProperties.bat” utlity tool located in <Interstage BPM Installation>serverdeploymentbin. The usage of this utlity can be found in section 3.3 Using the Configuration Export and Import Scripts of the AdministrationGuide.pdf.

  3. Backup your “tenants” folder from <Interstage BPM Installation>/server/instance/default

  4. Proceed with the Interstage BPM reinstallation or upgrading process.
  *If the existing Interstage BPM database is configured using “SAAS” mode, then the reinstallation/upgrade of Interstage BPM will need to be setup in the same mode and same applies for “NON-SAAS” mode.
  *For “SAAS” mode, please make sure to uncheck where the deployment tool asks “Choose to create Default Tenant for SAAS mode” (Section 6.7.7 Super User and Multitenancy Settings of InstallationGuide_EEJB.pdf).

  
  5. After Interstage BPM reinstallation/upgrading is complete, use the “importProperties.bat” utility program to import your backed up system and tenant properties (from step 2).  The usage of this utility can be found in section 3.3 Using the Configuration Export and Import Scripts of the AdministrationGuide.pdf.

  6. Copy and paste your backup “tenants” folder from step 3 to the following location <Interstage BPM Installation>/server/instance/default.  This step will override the “tenants” folder created during the reinstallation/upgrading process.

  7. Startup Interstage BPM server.

  8. Login into the console as an admin user and navigate to System Administration > Application Settings.

  9. Select the tenant from the list and click on the “Synchronize with DMS” button to make sure all of the tenant applications get updated properly into the JBoss runtime directory.  If there is more than one tenant, repeat this step for the other tenants.

  10. Complete.
